Romneys Make a Push Through Puerto Rico
BAYAMÓN, Puerto Rico — Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann, came to Puerto Rico for a short trip, and left, in the words of Mrs. Romney, knowing “how to par-tay.”
Puerto Ricans, she said, “have some things to teach the mainlanders!”
“They’ve got to learn how to party,” she said, chatting with reporters in an outdoor plaza Saturday afternoon. “We have some things to learn from down here.”
Mr. Romney, for his part, spent less than 24-hours on the island, where he held three events, and submerged his usual campaign message — more jobs, less debt, smaller government — into the broader (and more popular) theme of statehood for Puerto Rico.
